Best things to do in Paris?

On a budget, but am going to Paris in April for a long weekend...

Yahooers! What's the stops and attractions that are a must! (from tourist places to the best local restaurant!)

Check for bank holidays and strike action first, as this happens often and causes many attractions to close.

id definitely see the eiffel tower, the arch de triomphe, champs elysees, notre dame cathedral, sacre coeur basillique, l'ouvre.

Things that cost money:  a cruise down the Seine in the evening, a visit to one of the big 3 museums (Louvre, d'Orsay, Pompidou), a ride up to the top of the Eiffel Tower, nursing a coffee while sitting on the terrace of a cafe.

Things that are free: visits to Notre Dame & Sacre Coeur; walking through Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des Plantes, les Tuileries, and the Palais Royal; visiting street markets such as the one on rue Montorgueil or rue Mouffetard; window shopping along the Champs Elysees & Boulevard St. Germain.  

That should be just about enough to fill up a long weekend.  Note that if it happens to be the first Sunday of the month, the museums have free admission...
