So my boyfriend and i finally decided it was time to try again, we lost an unintended pregnancy earlier this year. I am very excited and can't wait to be a mommy! I figured there is no rush and i want to be healthy and as comfortable as possible. i want to know when do you think, your opinion, is the best time of year weather, socially, etc, wise to be pregnant (i live in the great lakes area), at different stages?, and why? Thanks :)

  1. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.:(

The best time to get pregnant would probably be around fall/winter/spring. Try to avoid summer as much as possible because when it's hot, it's HOT.

    Best of luck to you.:)

  2. I would want to get pregnant in September if I could choose.  that way I get pregnant as the weather starts to cool off and I give birth in June just before the weather starts to get hot.  being woken up early doesnt bother me as much in the summer as it does in the dark and gloomy winter months and I feel more energized in the summer to be up taking care of a baby.  I also find summer to be less depressing as winter which I think is great after giving birth and its easier for friends and family to get time off work in the summer to come visit.  anything too close to a holiday makes that more difficult.

  3. There's a lot of things to take into consideration.....whether you have seasonal allergies, which season you like to travel in (because some travel is restricted after a certain point in pregnancy), and your overall comfort. I think the biggest concern is of course when you'll be due, and trimester 3 when you get huge and extremely uncomfortable.

Keep in mind: if you have allergies during the spring/summer, when you're pregnant you may not be able to take allergy medicine that works well for you.  Everyone I know who was due in the summer said that the heat of summer when you're in the 3rd trimester can be miserable.  I didn't hear weather related complaints from anyone about any other time of the year though.

I'm due in November, and I'm concerned that when it starts getting cold in October none of my coats will fit me by then since I'm already huge right now. Other than that, I think fall or spring is the best time to have a due date.

  4. I had a summer baby. He was born end of January and it was so hot! I'm in Australia.

I think you should take into consideration the time of year, are there already lots of birthdays around that area? Christmas? Easter? or any other special events where you have to buy things for other people and is a costly time.

When is your car rego due? Don't have a baby around then because you will always go 'Oh no it's _____ birthday and car rego" etc.

I found having my son just a month after Christmas is good because on his Christmas Lay-By it's really expencive but I divide it up into birthday and Christmas.

Also having a baby right near Christmas generally means people will ask the child 'Now would you like a good birthday present or christmas present?' and it's not fair if you have another child in June because they get a good b'day and xmas.

Also take into account the weather. Do you want to be huge in the middle of summer? I didn't mind cause we have a pool and air-con. Or I just went to the shops to cool down.

Do you want a winter baby and always wonder "are they warm enough?"

  5. I got pregnant in November and had my son in early August. I've heard people complain about being pregnant during the summer, but honestly, it wasn't that bad for me (and I got huge!). I would do it that way again in a second. People expect you to be fat when you're pregnant, so when you're in your maternity swimsuit during the summer it's not bad. But, when you're in the midst of trying to lose your baby weight during the summer...then you just look (and feel) yucky. I liked having all of the fall, winter, and spring to lose my baby weight. That way, by the next summer you'll be lookin' awesome! Not only that, but when you're in the very beginning of your pregnancy, you don't quite look pregnant, but more just like you're gaining weight. I got to wear baggy sweaters and stuff to work to hid my blubbler during those winter months. It was wonderful. By the way, I live in Michigan.

  6. I think anytime between October-May is good because it isn't too hot. So TTC between January-August. You could go all the way until June [TTC in September and early October] depending on how soon it gets hot where you live.

  7. I HATED being pregnant in the summer. I am always hot anyways... so adding a baby just sucked.

  8. I have a December baby so maybe I am biased. :)

If you get pregnant early in March and have a December baby you aren't too huge during the summer months, you get to spend the last couple months in the cold, and it gives you excuses to skip holiday gatherings if you so choose. The best part is your baby will be at a perfect age to play outside when summer comes.

  9. I think the best time to concieve would be june or july, only because you can finish your current summer just about looking the same and wearing the same clothes then into the fall buy some cute up to date maternity and be comfortable during the winter months have the baby march or april and HOPEFULLY lose some of the baby fat by the next summer!thats my plan! but i would hate to be pregnant during the summer its soo hot.

  10. I would definitely try not to be towards the end of your pregnancy in the summertime.  This time last year I was 8 months pregnant and miserable.  It was so hot and carrying around that belly wasn't helping! If I had planned her, I would have gotten pregnant around june or july so the weather would be cooler during the last few months.

  11. I think it's good to get pregnant in the summer and be fully pregnant during the winter. In the summer months, if you're big and pregnant, you will be miserably hot!
