Question:

Best time to avoid traffic driving home from New York City?

I'm gonna be heading from New Hampshire to New York and Instead of driving to the city itself, I'm parking at Laguardia Airport. Last time I went, I left the city at 7pm and hit traffic at the Whitestone Bridge, mind you this as on a Sunday.

If I leave the city at 9:30, 10 O Clock, get back to LGA at 1030, does anyone think I will hit traffic heading back home?

I plan on leaving NH around 530am, traffic problems you think?

  1. Leaving NH at 0530 will put you around the I-95 loop between 6-7,  and in CT from about 0800 until whenever.

Best to leave NH at about midnithe and get to LGA well before the commute starts in NYC.

  2. The chances of you hitting traffic heading back home is less. (Barring any road work that seems to last for a decade.)

Now leaving NH at 5:30am will have you likely hitting traffic around Stamford, CT and then a pretty large jam when you get closer to the city.
