Best time to feed the kids when there will be a reptile show?

This party is different than what I usually throw. Its usually a buffet and eat whenever you want, but this party i'm throwing is only 3 hours because it is at a lodge. Okay, the party is @ 1-4 and the live reptile show will be about 45 min plus pictures afterwards.

I was wondering if I should have them eat before the show starts or eat after?

Probably should eat before, especially if the kids will be allowed to touch the reptiles.

Some reptiles actually carry salmonella and I'm sure you don't want any of the kids getting sick. Our local zoo offers a similar program and parties. They actually require that the kids eat and that all food is put away before they will bring out any of the animals. They allow the kids to touch the animals, but only after they have washed their hands. They must also wash their hands after touching.

I'd have them eat before, then have cake afterwards. Start out with games (if you're planning to have anyway) or free play, then serve the food. After 1 1/2 hours, sit the kids down for the show. By the time it finishes, with pictures and everything, you'll probably have about 25 mins for cake etc. Just make sure the kids wash their hands if they are touching any of the animals... no germies!
