Best time to go domican republic?

Question

i want to go to the domican republic next year with my toddler...can anyone tell me is there a best month to go where it dont rain much..as i dont want to be stuck inside a room with him on a dream holiday...and can anyone sugest a good resort for familes..thanks a bunch :)

i'd say christmas/new year time like dec/jan or feb. but research it further just to make sure if you like on the internet.

I suppose any time of year is good, seeing as it is the Caribbean.

But beware of hurricane season - this only affects the south coast though. The north coast is protected from hurricanes by a large inland mountain range, so I strongly recommend you go somewhere on the north side of the island.

Because the north doesn't get affected, you also can benefit from better quality accomodation (because it doesn't get blown down every year!)

Like happy feet stated the weather isnt an issue and Puerto Plata is beautiful.

I recomend the riu mambo hotel, truely amazing! and very good for all ages - including todlers!

RIU has a very good reputation anyway but this place just tops it.

My little 4 year old sister came along and couldnt get enough of the childrens club and entertainment (which is truely for everyone).

No chance of getting bored.

The high season is from mid December till end March, the second season is from June to end September. The rain is always for a very short time (10 to 30 min) and then sun again, so nothing to spoil your stay with us. Just go to your travel agent he/she will give you some good advise (if professional). Puerto Plata is the best option, we had only 3 hurricanes in 115 years. Enjoy it !
