  1. for the reasons that you are looking, summer is NOT the best time to go.

Most of Spain is at it's most beautiful in October-November, and March-May.  It gets rather cold and rainy in the winter, and really hot (especially Andalucía and Barcelona) during the summer.  Everything is more expensive in the summer, and wherever you go, for reasons that should be obvious, it's busier in the summer.

If the only time you can go is summer, the earlier the better.  EVERYONE seems to have August free, and August, of course, is hotter than any other time.

Madrid will be much more temperate.  If you must go in the summer, choose Madrid.

  2. August is a quit time in Madrid as lots of people take very long holidays to the coast and a lot of the Students that are not from Madrid go home. The Weather is also at its hottest around this time.

  3. sept is good as still warm but easing off a bit

  4. about mid September after the schools go back (in the UK) as there is less tourists then and it is cheaper - it is still a lot warmer than the UK but is does start to cool down there then as well - it is usually about 20-26 degrees C (whereas in August it can get up to 35 degrees C - I don't know if you prefer that

  5. August and September are good months to go.

  6. better check their tourist information center and see when is the best time to travel to spain. usually, like most countries, it depends on the weather conditions, festivities and peak season of tourists.
