I have a Jeep cherokee. I am considering selling it and need to bang out a dent in the front passenger door. I would like to know which is the best tool to use for the job? a rubber mallet?? I do not want to make it worse!.....LOL.

By the way, I would like to keep the door on while I bang it out and just remove the door panel.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. take it to the shop, because u dont know what u are doing.

  2. Contact any dealership in you area and ask them for the phone number of the guy who does their dent repairs. He will have a process in which he massages the dent from the inside out. in most cases it's a 99% improvement. The cost should be about $50.00 give or take. As long as the dent is not to severe, it's the ONLY and cheapest way to do it.

  3. If it isn't creased (ie a large smooth dent ,paint not broken) just take a toilet plunger and use it to pull it out.Just find the center(deapest part) push the plunger in and pull the dent out.

  4. Some dents can be pulled out with a suction cup.  They sell kits for this.

Also, there is a trick of using dry ice to remove dents.  I haven't tried this though.  Place dry ice in the dent and the metal will attempt to return to its original position.

Otherwise, you should use a body hammer and dolly.  But with this method you need clear access to the inside of the panel which is not always possible.  Also, with a body hammer, you may need to touch up the paint when you are finished.

  5. a toilet plunger. worked for me.

  6. take the inside panel off, take a rubber mallet and a piece of 2x4 and bang it out.
