I am going to Barcelona for 2 days and want to go to Ibiza. It says a ferry ride is 8 1/2 to 10 1/2 hours. I noticed it only takes 3 1/2 hours from Valencia to Ibiza. Is it better to travel to Valencia and take a ferry from there? How far is Valencia from Barcelona? What are the ferry rides like? Are they nice?My main concern is being stuck on a ferry for 8-10 hours and be uncomfortable and bored. Reccommend a ferry?

  1. Last year I take the train Eurostar from Barcelona to Valencia. The train is very fast and the travel takes approx. 2-1/2 hours. Nerveless I will recommended to take the ferry from Barcelona. Check the ferry connections because I believe the ferry stop in Palma de Mallorca.

    Buen viaje!

  2. Ibiza is near Valencia, that's true, but Barcelona is a "bigger city" in terms of services, so, if you have any problems with the ferry, you have more options to fix it in Barcelona...

  3. I prefer to take the ferry from Barcelona to the Balearics, because I love the long boat ride and the relaxation that comes along with that. But if you wanna get there quickly, go from Barcelona to Valencia. That trips is only about 2 hours or so and the trip from Valencia to Ibiza is harmless.

Ibiza is a very boring island. It's good if all you are interested in is partying and drinking and being a dumb ***. But if you are interested in pure substance, try menorca. It's quieter. :)

  4. Hi, I would reccomend taking the ferry from Valencia, since I biza is much closer to this city. Also, the new civil good conduct rules in Barcelona are going to turn it into one of the most boring cities in Spain. Valencia is as much fun, you will not have problems with the idiom, and the trip is fast and comfortable. So long ferry trips as the one from Barcelona mean that  they are using older boats and that means too much waves, sea-sickness and awfull oil-stench. You can fly directly to Valencia or take the Eurostar,  very fast, modern and nice experience. From Barcelona to Valencia only takes the Eurostar 2:30 hours. To select a ferry check schedules and models as well as time to arrive there.
