Sony is the best for lcd. Stay away from vizio and the other disposable lcd tv brands out there.  There's no replacement parts  that a service tech can fix them with and you have to ship your tv to the manufacturer usually at your own expense.  It's your choice but I'd stay away from  those tv's.

um...you could try vizios...when they first came out they always needed service but now there getting better...there one of the very few manufacturers that actually go out of there way to cover you fully under warranty..which ever tv you go with check on ur warranty before purchasing it....maxent will make you send in ur tv is it needs repair and sceptre too and you have to pay to send it in, packing and shipping has to be covered by owner of tv. Jus double check the TV warranty, and vizios are the cheapest with best customer service

What do you mean?  

Best type as in brand?

Or best type as in the lighting system?  Current televisions use the liquid crystal with backlight as a standard.  There are some newer televisions that are giving LED lighting in the background a test run.
