Just wondering which swim stroke/style is the best for maximum caloric burn and heart rate accelerator. Also for how long for a good cardio workout should I swim for? at least 30 minutes straight? I know for running and elliptical and other land cardio machine/workouts you need to work out for at least 45 minutes for your metabolic rate to increase for 12hrs.

  1. Hey I want to share my weight loss story . I managed to lose about 50 lbs. in two months . I were taking exercises every day and used diet plan from this website http://fatloss.jaggl.com . You can do that too if you want.

  2. Well, I am a swimmer in High School, and by far the swim stroke that is the hardest is butterfly, if you cannot do this then breast stroke. You should always swim for about 2 hours and my swim coach always made us do 200 crunches after swimming it helps a lot.

  3. i would say breastroke or butterfly

  4. I suggest butterfly. It is pretty grueling, but after a while your heart gets stronger so you don't need to breath every stroke. If you can't get your arms out of the water, try just doing the dolphin kick with a kickboard. It gives you killer abs!

  5. I'd suggest doing whichever stroke allows you to continually swim the longest.  Some people have trouble breathing on their front side, and so they end up stopping because they don't breathe right.  For them it is sometimes best to do the backstroke well so that breathing correctly doesn't become a hindrance.  Breathing is also easier with the breaststroke, in my opinion.  But I personally prefer a nice easy freestyle for long distance and aerobic fitness.
