  1. this is not inexpensive, unfortunately. but the Purple Dyson made for pets is the best. my husband used to sell vaccums and he swears by them. they have good warrenties and stand by their products. also... whatever you buy, get the protection agreement. I have found them invaluable.

  2. Anything with a good, powered beater brush (the non-electric turbine-powered brushes tend to stall under load).

But if you want a quick method of removing cat hair, a slightly dampened terrycloth towel works well when rubbed in one direction across a hairy patch - it tends to roll the the hair up into lumps that are easy to pick up.

  3. I had a long haired Persian-type cat for 19 yrs & she shed quite a lot.

I never found a hoover or cleaner that was 100% successful but the best remedy I found was to use a magnetic brush.

They are extremely cheap to buy & very effective.

  4. I would have to say the Dyson. We have three cats and two dogs all five of which shed alot. Our house is carpeted so always covered in cat hair. Since we've gotten the Dyson, our house has been much cleaner with much less hair.

Here what other people think of some other vacuums though if you want more advice: http://www.viewpoints.com/Vacuums
