Best video recorder, for short independent films?

I want to apply to a film school. But I need to make a reel to even be admitted. I want to know from Film students what equipment they use and what is their favorite school? I hope to go to a school in the Western part of the USA such as CAL arts. They are so good, but difficult to get into. But I have hope that I can perhaps create a decent short film and jump into films school.

Well you certainly won't be able to get in on a regular "video recorder" to those schools. You'll need at a minimum, a high end 3ccd camcorder like the Canon  XH-A1 or something like that. And you better make a couple films before you make one to submit so you can learn how to do it, I can tell you your first won't be good and won't get you in.
