Best villages in Normandy, France?

Hi,

We are catching a ferry to Le Havre on the long weekend in May. We want to cycle down to Bayeux over 2 or 3 days and would love to find quaint French villages along the way where we can stay. Do you have any recommendations of good villages to stay between Le Havre and Bayeux (or thereabouts)?

Look forward to hearing your answers.

  1. Honfleur, it's very pretty !!!

  2. Honfleur is an exquiaite village... We were there in december.

Also Pont l'Evêque a bit futher inland Beuvron sur Auge, and back on the coast Trouville and Deauville (this last is chic and expensive...not to stay in, but nice to visit). Cabourg, Houlgate, St Luc s/mer, St. Aubin s/mer,  Arromanches les Bains, etc. As you go towards and past Bayeux you have all the area of the D-Day memorials of the Second World War.

All the nomandy coast is very beautiful... Just meander and stop wherever something takes your fancy.

Enjoy the excellent food, apple cider and the marvelous views.

I always tell people to keep 3 things open... eyes, heart and mind...with that you will take great memories back with you!

    :-)

  3. Along the coast - going northward - Varengeville - Saint Valery en Caux - Etretat - there's a small coast  road - great cliffs - but looks very much like on the GB side - oysters - seafood - cows - green everywhere - bud God thanks no fish and chips - applewine instead is great - and milk dairies and cheeses
