  1. Ooo thats quite a way, will take about 45 mins to an hour (and thats at communter route march speed)

No really easy way to walk, but try going along Euston road to tottenham court road, then all the way down charing cross road, into trafalgar square, then down whitehall.

  2. the other guy's answer is the way i'd probably do it, but this website is great:

    http://www.walkit.com/

  3. Cross over to the south side of Euston road,

    turn left into judd street

    Right into Leigh street

    Left into Marchmont street

over the traffic lights, continue Marchmont st

    Right Coram street

    Left  Woburn place

Forward and right into Russell square,

Left  Montague street (far left hand corner of the square)

Right  Great Russell street (British museum on your right)

    Left into Bloomsbury st

Continue up to the traffic lights 2ND set (shafetsbury theatre on your left)

Directly where you are standing, cross over the road into Endell street (opposite)

    Right into Shelton street

    Which leads into Monmouth street

Forward straight into upper st martins lane,

Forward straight into st martins lane

Right at the end into King William 1V Street, and immediately Left into st Martins place

Continue into Trafalgar square and take the 4th exit off the square through Admiralty arch,

    Forward the Mall

1st Left into Horse guards road,

    Parade ground on your Left,

Alternate: from Trafalgar square, Take the 3rd exit into white hall

This is not a driving route.

Time: depending on you fitness, allow  45Min's- 1 hour

This route is the most direct, (as the crow flies).  Place a piece of cotton between the two points on a large scale map, and you will see, this is what we call cottoning up, when doing the knowledge of London to become a london taxi driver,

  4. It's quite a long way - basically all the way across the centre of London.

To be honest, I'd probably get the tube - if you still want a nice walk, take the Victoria Line straight to Green Park, then walk through the park, cross The Mall, and walk across St James's Park. Horse Guards Parade backs onto the park.

  5. You would be better off jumping on the tube to Victoria as you come out of victoria station turn left walk to the end of the road and at the trafffic lights turn right. this will bring you up to Buckingham Palace, stay on the right and have a nice walk through the park  with the river in the park on your right, as you come to the end of the park right in fron of you is Horse Guards Parade. you can walk straight through.  As you come to the end of this if you turn left this will bring you up to Trafalgar Square which is also quite nice to have a look around

  6. Easy march.  Come out of King's Cross station, go over to the southside of the Euston Road and walk along until you come to Gower Street.  Turn left and follow this road.  At the bottom of Gower Street walk across towards Cambridge Circus, there turn left down Charing Cross road.  Eventually you will come to Trafalgar Square.  Go across the square and walk out under Admiralty Arch.  Turn next left - Horseguards.

Massed Bands, Brigade of Guards, Household Division, Horseguards Parade, Whitehall London.

Next Trooping the Colour is on Saturday 14th June 2008.  You can see the Queen and her escort go from Buckingham Palace to Horseguards via the Mall - stand anywhere along this road.
