Best way to apply for credit? By store, online or by mail. ?

Online is best. A paper application can get lost with all of your important information on it. In the store you have a lot of distractions, people walking around you, etc, unless they are giving a percentage off of your purchases that day if you apply for their card.

I prefer online because it is safe, quick, and i do not have to leave the house.

My wife likes applying for stuff at the store because she can get 10% off or something.

I am sure there are still people who prefer to do it by mail.

There is really no one best answer IMO. It is all based on your preference. Each has its own advantages and risks.

Don't.  If you can't afford to buy something in cash then you shouldn't be buying it.  Credit cards are evil.  Learn to budget your expenses with the money you make - not the money you borrow.

On-line at a site you can compare rates and fees associated with those cards.  You will also be able to choose what kind of rewards programs you feel is best for you.  http://creditcardwarehouseonline.com is just one of many sites out there that let you do this.  It is also faster on-line as many of those applications are instant approval.

If this is your first credit card, apply in person at your bank.  You have a better chance of being approved that way.
