Best way to book Caribbean vacation for first-timer?

Hello all,

My girlfriend and I (19 and 22 respectively) want to plan a trip to the Caribbean. Neither of us have been anywhere but Atlantis and this is our first trip on our own. We're looking to keep it as cheap as possible, but will spend what we need to to have a great time. We want something all-inclusive (meals, etc.), something that can provide us with a nice resort and flights. We're looking to go for 5 days, 4 nights near the end of May. Should we use a travel agent? If so, what's the best way to find one (we're in NYC). We want someone that'll help us find a good price on hotels, airfare, and someone that can also help us find activities. Thanks!

i would use a travel agent if its you're first time planning a vacation.

watch what she/he does and looks for.

and since its in a different country, it will probably be a bit more difficult

Have you considered a cruise?  I did a Carnival cruise last year that went to five different islands (St Thomas, Antigua, St Lucia, Dominica, and one other place) and it was great!  All the meals are included, the ship was fabulous, and we paid about $500 per person.  Air fare was extra and I went thru travelocity.  If you want to keep prices down, you could always drive to the port.  I did that once before and it is a long drive (from Ohio to Port Canaveral, FL), but we ended up saving a lot of money that came in handy on purchases and activities.  Have a great vacation!!
