What is the best method to book a hotel room in Paris? Most American hotels have websites and online tools such as Expedia, etc. But since many hotels in Paris are smaller and non-chain type hotels, I have read may reviews from travelers stating they booked online and then the hotel demanded they pay again at the end of the trip!

Can anyone advise on the best method to find a hotel and how to book? thank you!!

  1. It is common practice for hotels to charge only at the end of the stay. The reason you are required to leave your credit card at reservation is to ensure that you're going to show up (or pay cancellation fees), but it is not charged unless you want it to be.

Regarding "small boutique" hotels, sites like booking.com have many small and privately owned hotels; and you can see how many rooms a hotel has an what are the reviews on it (see: http://www.booking.com/destination/city/... please note that 4 stars is the highest level in France, there is no such thing as 5 star hotel in Paris); In addition, booking.com enables you to see only hotels that are still free in the dates you enter.

Another good hotel booking site is hotel.de : there you've got the choice of "castle hotel" or "design hotel" that might be suitable for some boutique or privately owned hotels. You can also search by address in Paris:

    http://www.hotel.de/Search.aspx?han=2204...

Both sites, but especially booking.com, are also useful for searching hostels, B&Bs, apartments, etc.

  2. you may try this one .. just browse the site

  3. INTERNET!!!!

  4. I used Google and just put in hotels in Paris.  I found all kinds of local type hotels and then booked it on line.  I didn't want to stay at a big chain hotel either.   Some of the smaller hotels are on Expedia also.

This is where I stayed and highly recommend it. I booked on line and they did not charge anything to my credit card until I checked out.

  5. I book directly with the hotel rather than thru an agency or booking website.

  6. You can just book online, it's really easy and very cheap, there are a lot of good websites for you to book online, they provide you with best hotel resevation service, I think you should have a good hotel trip.

Here is the review of top 5 online hotel reservation service websites, you can choose one of them.

  7. On the one short trip I spent at a hotel in Paris, I booked through Expedia, but I paid the hotel at checkout.  Usually on Expedia, you don't have to pay in advance unless you're booking an Expedia Special Rate.  If you do pay in advance, make sure to take your payment receipt with you on the trip and don't leave the hotel till the matter is resolved.

For my next trip, I found a small hotel near Luxembourg and booked directly on their website.  I paid a small booking fee (about $8 I think) up front, but that's all, and I get the pre-paid fee back as a credit on my final hotel bill summary.

So, I guess my advice is to find the hotel's website if you can.  If you can't, or if they don't do reservations online, you can call of course.  If you want to save the international phone call, then use a site like Expedia and do everything you can think of to avert any potential problems.

  8. Hi, the best method to book a room in hotel in Paris is INTERNET,

    Google is well, or Expedia,

a lot of hotels in Paris have a website,

    www.hotels-paris.fr

    www.hotelaparis.com

    www.parishotelsfrance.com

    Welcome in Paris !

  9. After much research I used www.parisby.com/

This site represents some of the best hotel choices in Paris and I was totally satisfied with the service and results.  The site is easy to browse for different hotels with lots of information on each and you can search by location, quality, price range, etc.  I selected the Hotel Mansart based on the central location near the Ritz, price, and style of room.  Also, I wanted large rooms including the bathroom and was completely satisfied with my choice.

I made the reservation almost a year in advance, because we went in the Spring, and I was able to make dinner and tour arrangements directly with my hotel before we left without any problems via e-mail.  The service also includes messages/mail box.  Payment was made at the end of our stay and everything was in order and I never had to worry about anything.  Plus, the hotel Mansart was great and the staff will do anything for you so you enjoy your trip and your stay.  Hope this helps and bonne chance!
