Question:

Best way to clean boxing gloves?

I borrowed a pair of boxing gloves from my friend and I got a good amount of blood on them. I need to return them totally disinfected...that means no blood anywhere on the gloves. I want them as clean as possible. What should I do? Should I take them to the dry cleaner? They have velcro on them, so I dont want to do anything myself to ruin them.

I hear that putting them in the freezer for 24 hours works (it kills all the germs). Is that true?

  1. Whatever you do dont put them in the wash, lol, they will come out looking like pillows. What are the gloves made of Vinyl or leather?

Don't use a cleaner too corrosive you don't want to fade the color of the glove. Your best bet is to use vinegar and water and just polish it with a rag.

See if there are any sprays that are for blood specifically, If you know whos blood it is and there clean i wouldn't worry bout it too much.

  2. For years, I've used a leather seat cleaner foam called the Tannery. Cleans, polishes, removes sweat , blood, dust, anything and doesn't change the color. Spray foam on lightly, rub it in, then wipe off with clean, dry, cloth. Good luck. Don't use liguid, but leather foam cleaner only.

No freezer, microwave, no running over with car. Just common sense leather cleaner.
