Question:

Best way to clean my new driver?

I just bought a new HiBore XL Tour (I love it by the way) and the HiBore 15 degree fairway wood.

I've always soaked my irons in a bucket (above where the head meets the shaft), and scrubed them with a toothbrush. What is the best way to clean my driver head without causing any damage, but getting it really clean?

Thanks,

JC

  1. use solvent. or meths... does the job nicely.

edit: that was a joke fellaz.

  2. Most of the new drivers these days have the Metallic paint finish on top, best way to clean that is car polish, there is stuff called paint cleaner, rub this over your driver as you would for your car.... Rub it on, let dry to haze then polish / buff off with a mircofibre towel... Paint work on driver comes up mint!...

As for the face if you have any stubborn stains, metho or nail polish remover works a treat

  3. Well, all i really do is get a towel wet, and just wipe it down. there aren't any groves on a driver's face so all i really try to do is wipe off the little marks you get from the ball.

  4. Best way to clean woods is to use a soft damp cloth with water, and just scrub away. If you want to get fancy you can add soap to the cloth and rinse it off lightly afterwards. Unless you are doing something very stupid drivers dont get dirty very easily. You can use this all over the club, not just on the face of it.

You can use a soft toothbrush on the face, but NEVER on the paint, it will probably scratch. Also, DO NOT submerge woods into a bucket of soapy water because if there is the littlest hole around the ferule of the shaft, well, you can probably imagine what would happen.

    Have fun! = )

  5. JC,

Dude, no need to get fancy.....yeah you can dunk it in water....just don't use a wire brush on it......use a soft nylon brush and some soap and water.....keep the headcover on it too (not when washing it, when playing) this will avoid nicks and dings.
