  1. Yes, you CAN use brake cleaner spray, yet it CAN damage ceratin plastics around the engine where you'll be spraying.  Best thing to do in my experiance would be to do the following.  Go to the store(any store that sells oil and oil filters SHOULD have the stuff) and buy a gallon container of Prestone Boi-Degradable Engine Degreaser and a pump spray tank(the kind with the hose on it).  Get a decent sized plastic scrub brush while your at it too.  Spray the stuff onto the bottom of the engine and where there is grease and oil.  Scrub the really bad spots for a few minutes.  Hose it all down again with the degreaser.  Then, empty out the degreaser, refill the tank with hot water and hose the engine and all areas that were sprayed and scrubed down thoroughly.  Drive away happy.

  2. Make sure the engine is warmed up. Spray liberally with degreaser. Let it sit for a few minutes, then wash with a garden hose with high pressure. If you can raise the vehicle, this will help. I like to spray the engine with the degreaser, load my ramps in the car and go to the closest car wash.
