  1. Ears candles are nonsense. They don't do anything...it is a myth they "draw the wax out".  There have been many cases of perforated eardrums from drops of candlewax

Peroxide works ok...but you may find that hissing an bubbling annoying

I always suggest warm olive oil in the ear at bedtime for a week or two.  What that doesn't dissolve, the nurse at your local clinic can then flush out with plain water.

  2. Hydrogen peroxide is good for cleaning the ears. I use it all the time. Ear candling is not necesarily meant for cleaning the wax out of the ears. That is the residue from the candle not the wax from your ears. There is a lot more to it.

  3. I have always heard that gently squirting peroxide into your ear will help to clean it out...it always worked with my little sister. I also read this on some website:

"Some home remedies are safe and effective. A vinegar-water-peroxide solution (1:1:2) can be warmed to body temperature and applied to the ear canal to soften wax. A drop of baby oil can be placed in each ear canal on a regular basis (typically, once or twice per week) to soften hard, painful wax. People who have a history of middle ear infections, swimmer's ear, or a hole in the ear drum should NOT try these remedies, nor should they allow a physician to irrigate their ears, as such methods can lead to a painful and/or dangerous ear infection. As a rule, people with a history of any ear disease should go to an ENT for wax problems and not  try treating the problem themselves."

good luck hon! hope you get better soon.

  4. i was having really bad jaw pains and i could barely talk, so  went to the doctor and it turned out i just had a lot of wax build up so they did this thing called an "ear irrigation". they stick this little tube in your ear and it squirts warm water into your ear and the wax just falls out. it felt amazing and reeeeeeally helped. it was free too. the cost was included in my co-pay.

  5. I've always had problems with exessive ear wax. You may need someones help for this one. What I did was put my head on someones lap so that the ear that has the wax its side up...i had them put a small amount of Hydrogen Peroxide liquid (which is a harmless  and a very bright indigo liquid which appears colorless in a dilute solution, slightly more viscous than water) Into the ear. Once they put that liquid in you can see all the wax coming out sorta like it being bubbly. After that just remove it wit a small towel or a q-tip.. This really works.. Try it out and i gurantee you that all the wax will be removes.. Good luck

  6. My middle son just tried an ear candle.  It is a cone shaped object that is inserted in the ear canal and lit, yes, like a candle.  It removes wax, for real.  But he also later ended up at the Dr. as he had an actual ear infection, which these don't help.  Ear candles can be bought at healthfood stores or we bought ours at a local Amish bulk foods store in the health aids.

  7. Take a cap full of hydrogen peroxide and tilt your head and pour it in your ear. Let it fizz for a minute or two then tilt your head and let it run out. Take a q-tip and gently twirl it around the inside edge of your ear canal. It is safe and works great cleaning ears I use it once a week.

  8. Ear candles are nonsense.  They do NOT remove wax from the ears.  They are simply a tax on the gullible - a way to remove money from their wallets.

The peroxide suggestion is better.  It actually works.
