Best way to get cheap / free boxes in LA? Do liquor stores give out boxes here?

Most shopping centers in my area, a bit north of there, have recycling bins for cardboard.  The usually do not care if people take boxes.  Only problem is they may be flattened out.  If not torn up you can still use them.
