I will be arriving into Charles De Gaulle (CDG) airport, I will have a large backpack and another piece of luggage (I am travelling to Africa after my four days in Paris) and I am wondering the easiest way to get from the airport to this area. How easy is it to travel on the metro with luggage. I am from NY city and know that travelling with luggage and managing the staircases on the subway can be difficult. Are there shuttles to and from the airport and where can i get that information.

Thank you so much

  1. To avoid any hassle take an Airport Shuttle, it's cheaper than a taxi.  Airport Associate Shuttle is the least expensive that I've found and it will take you right to your door.  Only 14.5 euros.

  2. You can travel from CDG on the RER B to the St. Michel Station which is in the 5th arr. and only a short walk into the 6th. Depending on exactly where you are going it may be possible to avoid the Metro itself. Since the RER B would be originating at CDG you shouldn't have much trouble with your bags if they aren't way bigger than average.

However, there are also several shuttle companies.

  3. Air France also has a shuttle, but it drops you off near the Opera Garnier.  Transferring from there to the 5th/6th with luggage isn't very convenient.

  4. Take a taxi. This will save you all the hustle and be faster (if out of peak hours).
