We are boarding a cruise in Feb 09 in Fort Lauderdale but are planning a mini pre-vacation in Orlando. We are from Canada so will be flying into Orlando and spending 3 to 4 nights there then need to get to our ship and wish to be there by 12 noon.

We may rent a car but if the roads are very busy we may not opt for that. Is there anything besides greyhound?

  1. If you drive, take I-4 to I-95 all the way down to Ft. Lauderdale. It should take about 3 hours.

  2. You can take Amtrak, America's passenger rail system right from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale.

Also the drive is a very easy drive, not very busy at all!   It's approximately 350 kilometers (210 miles).

The entire drive is express highway the entire time!.  Florida's turnpike the entire way down!  Getting off on I-595 in Fort Lauderdale.

It's a flat drive through lots of swamp land, I used to drive that road ALL the time!

I love when Canadians visit here, they're the nicest folks you will find.
