Question:

Best way to get good grades in Honors classes (with added detail/stuff)

I got my Tentative schedule in the mail and I found out I may or may not have 2 honor classes, those two being, Physics Honors and American History Honors.

I have a love/hate for History in General, Im fascinated by it, but also hate the horrific events that happen in any kind of history (I freaked out when learning a little about the black plague in world history for example).

I have been put in Physic honors because I sign for it, but this being a tentative schedule means I may or may not have it by the first day. I slacked off in chemistry barely managing to pass with a D to earn my credit. And going into Physics scares me to be truthful. I will buckle down and not slack off or procrastinate much my junior year. Im not sure if I need Physics because I plan to be a Pharmacist. But I do need the science credit.

Any advice for the two POSSIBLE classes I may or may not be taking?

Another thing is that I plan to kinda...Isolate myself from my peers to concentrate, because, last year, I talked or slept in class, counting on luck, and this time luck was here, it might not be next time. So is isolating myself from friends or people a good way to get good grades? I've done it before in freshman year and got Straight A's and A's and B's.

  1. Your best bet would be to just go to school and forget about work if you can..This way  you will have plenty of time to study, since you will defenietly need it..I wouldn't suggest taking more than one honors class at the same time..It is extremely hard..Well it was for me anyway..But maybe you  can take the pressure...Good Luck

  2. you don't have to isolate yourself from your classes to get good grades. the key is paying attention while you are in class. Don't talk, sleep or goof, because you only hurting yourself. But if you pay attention (which is easier to do when making eye contact with the speaker) homework is easier because you don't have to search for the answers and tests are easier because you'll already know your stuff. physics = piece of cake history isn't as easy, but honors means c**p when is comes to history, in most schools (went to eight) so just pay attention, make sure relax (have fun with your friends) and it'll be cheesy

  3. Your going to have to study, hard.

    But you already knew that.

    Thats the only way.

  4. For American History, make sure you actually read the book. There are tons of websites online with outlines chapter by chapter of books, but they often do not include any of the details mentioned in tests. The only way to really learn about history is to really read the book. The notes teachers give in class will absolutely NOT help. Sorry, but either my teacher was a failure with notes, or I paid no attention. Reading the material may seem like a waste of time at times, but thats what I did, and it worked for me. I passed AP American Hist. with an A. Good Luck! I know you can too!!

  5. Suck up, and make sure you ALWAYS understand what's going on in class.

That's right. That includes: answering the teacher's questions

                                           always looking excited

asking questions (only ones that make sense)

Never sleep in class. Don't pass notes or talk while the teacher is talking. It pisses us off.

Every single time you get homework or an assignment, stay after class to ask a few questions to clarify. This shows you are really interested and motivated and are trying hard. This effort will cause the teacher to be consciously or not so consciously easier on grading. If you don't get what's going on, see if you can go for extra help during study hall or lunch or if you can stay after school.

This will help you get better grades. Also, maybe a few recommendation letters from teachers for college.

You don't need to isolate yourself from friends. Just make it clear that when you're in class you're focused. Ignore them in class. After school, at activities, or lunch, gym, etc. whenever you're not learning... then hang out, have a great time!

    Good luck!
