I have a question. The thing is like this: This year im planning to go to study in the states. I am from Argentina, and I would like my girlfriend to go with me. Thats why I would like to know which one is the best way for her to come with me. The problem is that she doesnt want to go there and study a long career, as it is very expensive. Im open to any recommendation. I dont know, maybe you could recommend me some short careers, jobs, i dont know.

But also remember, that she needs visa, so... it could be a bit complicated. If you guys know something that could be helpful, please reply! thanks!

  1. I think her best bet will be to come over on a student visa, study a subject that's short-term, but in very high demand in the US, and for which we do import foreign workers, so that she can actually get a job in that field when she graduates.

She could come to the US and, at a community college, study to become a nurse. Nursing is an extremely high demand field in the US right now, and we do actually import foreign nurses - so it's quite possible that, if she chose to stay in the US after she graduated, she could actually find work, and an employer willing to sponsor her work visa. And while she's studying, she'd be on a student visa.

She can become a nurse after an associates degree, which only takes two years. Community colleges are also the US's least expensive type of college, and there should be one near to where you'll be studying.

Once you're done with your studies, and if you chose to move back home, her US nursing experience would, in most countries, be a plus to her in finding a nursing job. US-trained nurses tend to be quite well respected.

If nursing is not of interest to her, there are a few other professions that require only short term study, and which are in such high demand that we import foreign workers to fill the spots. But there aren't many, and most of them are skilled health care positions, or related: funeral director, for example.

But I think nursing may be her best bet.
