Best way to get myself to sleep

WITHOUT any drugs what is the best way to help myself get to sleep?!? I can lay quiet, in the dark for hours and not fall asleep, after only sleeping 3-5 hours the night before. I need some help

  1. Take the herb Melatonin (sp) that you can get at any vitamin store.  No side effects.


  2. You could take nice long shower with relaxing soap right before you go to bed.

    They also sell perfume that helps you fall asleep at CVS.


  3. chamomille tea..... is very soothing herbal remedy.

    of course there is also the big "O" that helps too... lol ...

    Seriously though, my grandmother used too give us chamomille tea at night, snuggle us in a big fluffy blanket and she'd lullaby us... this worked even when i was in high school!

  4. Natural remedies include warm milk, melatonin, valerian, 5-HTP and others that you can find in a web search for "natural sleep remedies".

  5. Drink Nyquel and No Doze at the same time!

  6. Smoke some ganja.

    I actually had insomnia and the doctor's advice didn't help, but my hippy friend Natalie's advice did. =) Ganja works, trust me.

  7. That used to happen to me ALL THE TIME.

    What helped me was drinking some of that "nighty night" tea, it's supposed to relax you and make it easier to fall asleep.  Chamomile and lavender helps with that too, just put some oil on your pillow to fall asleep with.

    Another possibility could be that you're stressed out.  If that's the case you have to do something to relax yourself.  Whether it's talking it out, or just getting new, more comfortable pillows and blankets for a softer retreat focus on what is going through your mind and keeping you awake and solve it for yourself.
