start in house leauge..or wat i did was roller blade alot before i steped foot on ice and i already knee how to skate

learn to skate - in hockey skates. I would recommend learning this skill - and WELL - before anything else

learn to skate (roller or ice which ever you prefer), learn the game and the rules, then go into a local or beginners league.
