Best way to get to Mt. St. Michel?

What is the best way to get to Mt. St. Michel? I would be going there from either Paris or from Lille but I'm having an awful time trying to figure out the best way to get there in either case. I can't rent a car so I'm dependent on other means of transport. Thanks very much

You take a train from the Gare Montparnasse to Rennes and from there you transfer to a bus.

Your other option is to book a bus tour with Grayline.  They depart Paris from the Cityrama terminal in the morning and it is a 15 hour guided tour.  Easy to book, easy to go.  They do everything, you take pictures and enjoy the ride on a nice comfortable bus.  Try it.  Enjoy the trip!
