Best way to go Temecula Wine Tasting with 5 friends without doing an organized tour?

I am going to Temecula with some friends on a Saturday and have "hired" on of our younger brother to drive us , as our DD. So, we don't need to use a touring service, but wondering the best way to do it on our own. or if you'd advise to use one of the touring services instead? Thanks!

the area is small and all wineries are on just a couple of roads.  Go to the official site and find out which wineries you'd like to visit.  You can print out a map there and get lots of good info.  One tip:  Start at the far and and work your way back.  Most people stop at the first winery they see so you can avoid the crowds this way.
