My one year old daughter fell on our stone patio the other day and now has a large scratch down her face. I am always so afraid of any boo boos on her face, that they will scar. It is a pretty bad scratch, anyone have any suggestions to make sure it doesn't scar? Thanks!

  1. put neosporin on it to help kill bacteria. and if it scars, you can use child scar cream. ive also found that if you put on the scar cream  before, it prevents scars.

  2. put nesporn on it and a band-aid

tell her not to touch it

make sure that you wash it out daily to keep from infection

feed her lots of fruits and veggies

  3. Ignore it or fall for all the advertisements.

    Either or will do.

  4. Just make sure you keep it clean and dab some hydrogen peroxide on it with a cotton swab periodically.  Neosporin and other over-the-counter creams can help reduce the appearance of scars.

  5. The best way to heal a scratch is to use Neosporin to kill the bacteria AND keep the scratch covered so the child does not scratch or pull the scab off the sore place. The human body forms the scab to protect the area while it heals. If the scab falls off on it's on there shouldn't be a scar. If the scab is removed before the sore is healed there is a chance of a scar.  Good Luck

  6. There's several OTC medicine that promises fast healing without a scar.  I've never used them because they cost too much. I use neosporin on my kids...it's expensive enough.

  7. Try keeping it really clean by washing it gently 2x a day (when you normally wash your face) and keeping it moist by putting neosporin oniment on it and covering it up with a bandaid. If it is too large to cover up just put neosporin on it and keep it most all day with the neosporin ointment. Apply the neosporin with a q tip swab. Do not touch the scratch or swim or get dirt in it. This is called a slow heal and keeps things from scaring as much. If it is a really thin with scratch it will work. If it is wide or really red and inflamed get to a doctor for help. You can get the neosporin ointment at a drug store or at a grocery store. You do not need a prescription. It also goes by the name triple antibiotic ointment. Do not buy the one with the extra pain relief. Do not pick the scab when it forms. Let if fall of naturally.

This will lessen this scar, but not necessarily prevent a scar entirely. It makes it better than it would have been.

  8. Try putting Neosporn on it everyday until it faids, my mom got into a fight when she was younger and the girl scratched her face and neck like that, all she did was use some of the Neosporn everyday and it's gone now.

  9. wash it out and put neosporin and band-aids on it until it heals over. once it heals, put mederma on it.

    good luck!
