Best way to hook up my mp3 player to my 2004 Honda Accord stero (no tape deck)?

Question

Should I have an AUX jack installed? How much would it cost?

Also.. I've tried an FM transmitter and it didn't work so well so please don't tell me to try that. thanks=)

when you said the fm transmitter didnt work well i think you meant you didnt really get good reception with it.. if thats the case, they sell antenna boosters so it would increase your reception on any station.. i had the same problem though i made a bigger antenna on my transmitter for it to send the signals farther

You could buy a new stereo for $100 or so that already has the input.  You may not be able to have an AUX jack installed (wired in) if your stereo is not capable of supporting it.  

I know you said don't suggest a FM transmitter, but did you try a Belkin FM transmitter?  My husband and I shopped around and tried some more expensive ones that weren't all that great.  Then we bought a Belkin last minute for a road trip and it sounded the best.  Eventually we just bought a new stereo that had the AUX input on the face and bought a 1/8" to 1/8" stereo cable.  Sounds great.

*tip: Don't turn the sound up on the MP3 player all the way, it distorts the audio too much.  Try it at like 75% and then use the stereo volume to crank up the rest.

It's not wireless so there's no interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. Basically it adds an AUX input to ANY radio. No searching for a clean channel.

It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch.

This is the answer. Totally versatile.
