Question:

Best way to kill weeds growing through a brick patio without using harsh weed killer?

I don't want to pull the weeds and loosen up the bricks but since I have children and small pets I don't want to use a harsh chemical weed killer, either. Is there some kind of household weed killer I can make that would be safer, or an all-natural product that would be effective?

  1. well I know a lady who got so upset she wanted to use a blow torch. I don't advise that.

What works is boiling water. Put a kettle on an when boiling pour it over the weeds. You might to repeat it a few times but I have yet to see it fail

  2. Spray vinegar

  3. Vinegar! Use 9% pickling vinegar that you can find at the supermarket. (Apple cider vinegar at 5% is not quite strong enough.)

Be careful to pour the vinegar only on the weeds without having any run off the edges into grass or flower beds. You should see the weeds turn brown within two days and can sweep the refuse away. If pets or children happen to taste it, they won't be poisoned and because of the strong taste won't try it more than once.

  4. There is a sealer sold at hardware store which become hard when it get wet.  I was made for this problem.  Its like a powder which you have to sweep in between the stone.  Spay with a hose and leave to dry.  That the end of your problem.  Try it if the vinegar don't work.

  5. A strong salt water solution kills weeds , and keeps them from coming back.Vinegar kills by making the soil too acidic for growth,There are others such as bleach, but it may discolor the brick, especially if they are aged.I would go with salt water or vinegar. They would be the safest.
