Best way to learn a language?

I'd really like to learn German or Japanese. I was thinking of getting Rosetta Stone, but was wondering if this was the best system?

i have used rosetta stone for japanese and trust me its very good =] you will not regret it

but something else that helped me which also taught me some stuff before i got it was my love for anime and watching it in the original japanese with english subs but you may not like anime :P

so maybe watching videos in japanese or german whatever one you choose you may feel dumb and you'll only understand a few words here and there but as you progress with rosetta stone or any other product you may choose it will get better and you will understand more and before ya know it you will be able to watch it without subtitles ^_^

[edit] ariel n sorry but learning on the internet only gets you so far and half the sites including the one you posted for japanese are unaccurate only a few words were right

On the computer i learned persian greeting words on google. This will help you speek japanese It is the best. It is in english to japanese english and english and german english, This is great

I think Rosetta Stone might help. I've thought about getting it, but i can't buy it. Of course, the best way to learn a language is to practice it in an environment that constantly speaks it, like the countries itself. Another thing is to get to know the culture. For instance, watch German shows or Japanese dramas. This way, u can see how people talk/converse in that language and get to know some of the slang/street language.
