  1. I think its just flour, salt and water! with some food colouring if you want it coloured!

  2. You can store it in one of those air tight containers. Should last awhile. We would often put ours int he fridge and then take it out early morning for play that day. I would also take a little out and store the rest in the fridge so when the other got yucky I could pull the fresh stuff out.

  3. There used to exist a recipe in the Australian Womens Own for modelling clay consisting of flour, salt, cream of tartar, food colouring and cooking oil. I can't remember the quantities but I'm sure an internet search will find recipes. It does have a limited life but in an airtight plastic container in the fridge should keep it for as long as is possible.

  4. try this i was a preschool teacher for 10 years and this was a no fail recipe

    4 cups plain flour

    2 cups salt

6 teaspoons of cream of tartare

half cup of oil (cooking vegetable oil)

large blob of non toxic paint in the oil

2 cups of very hot water (not boiling)

mix all dry ingrediants together make a well in the centre then add oil/paint and water fold together knead together for about five minutes, the longer you kneed it at the start the longer it will last, so do this before you give it to the children to play with, (good for taking out your frustrations too) then store in an airtight container like and ice cream tub.

    hope this helps

  5. Instead of making playdough, why not make salt dough? Then if your little one makes something that they're proud of, just bake it, varnish it and you've got it for keeps (and much cheaper than those new keepsake domes they've brought out.)

See recipe and hints at link below.

  6. 2 cups plain flour

    1 cup salt

    2 cups water

    2 tablespoons cooking oil

    4 teaspoons cream of tartar

    food colouring

    stir well

    microwave for 5 mins

or stir in a pan on the hob until it forms a ball

I prefer to do mine on the hob

Allow to go cold and store in an airtight container

  7. I don't know a recipe but you could look it up some where

  8. why make it?  You can buy a large "jar" for (really)  fifty something cents, and it stores easy and is non-toxic!

  9. BUY SOME

  10. This is the one I use with the kids I work with.  It's safe if they eat it and smells good.

    Kool-Aid Play Dough

    2 1/2 Cups flour

    1/2 Cup salt

    3 tablespoons of oil

    1 tablespoon alum

    a package of kool aid

    2 cups of boiling water

Mix flour, salt, alum and kool-aid.  Add oil and boiling water.  Stir until well blended.  Knead until playdough is a good texture.  Sometimes you have to add a little more flour. This playdough lasts for awhile.
