Question:

Best way to move from Minnesota to Oregon?

We're moving from Minneapolis to Portland. What would be the best way? Rent a Uhaul and tow our car behind, or rent an SUV and drive that and our car? We don't have that much stuff and it probably would fit in an SUV and a car, but would gas be worse driving 2 vehicles compared to a Uhaul truck towing a car? What do you suggest?

  1. Renting a U-Haul would be better.  You will realize you have more stuff than can comfortably be hauled in an SUV.  Make the trip a journey--there's plenty of beautiful land between MN and OR--and make it memorable.  Don't ruin the opportunity by being squeezed in a small car/SUV

But...it all depends on how many people are with you and how much stuff you have.  Fuel for two vehicles would easily DOUBLE the travel expenses.

  2. Let me start out by saying I'm not too knowledable when it comes to auto repair. Last month I had an accident with my Honda MDX and I wasn't sure how to fix them. I tried to search the web for tips, but the procedures were too difficult for my skills. I ended up going to the dealship for my repairs. The dealership tends to charge more than mom and pop repair shops, but they've seen all sorts of situations (auto insurance problems, repair warranty issues, etc) and they seem to always find a way to help me. Maybe you can try calling auto repair shops in Oregon to see if they can help you. http://www.autorepairshoplocator.com/Ore...
