Do I move up there by plane, train, drive there,...??

I will be an official adult by the time college comes.

So I have some years left of school 'till college and I visited Fairbanks,Alaska ( I have family up there) and I LOVED IT! I mean I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! Even though it's a small town.I want to go to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for college and live there. So I'll be 18 when college comes. So my question is what is the best way to move to Fairbanks,Alaska from the Puget Sound area?I do have family up there and like what is the cost of living and I could possibly live with my family up there. What about apartments/dorms...??

  1. Everyone flies. If you have stuff to ship, use a commercial shipper & pack it extra careful & they will send it on the barge with everyone elses stuff.

If I were you, i would live with my family until i could get in the dorm, you might be lucky & get in immediately. Cost of living is quite a bit higher, but so are wages so it all equals out. There will be lots of guys there from the army and the air force bases north of town in case you like that...

You can ship a small amount of boxes on the plane if you don't have heavy stuff, if you are just going to college, do that.

Be sure & go to the salmon festival at the big park in the summer.

You will need heavy warm shoes/boots, heavy winter coat & clothing for winter as it is quite cold n winter time.
