Best way to name your own price on Priceline???

I have used Priceline several times but usually do it several weeks in advance... Do you find better deals on priceline at the last min or a few weeks before travel? I am planning a trip to Honolulu at the end of Aug and just wondering when I would get the best deal on a 4 star hotel while bidding on Priceline. Thanks, C
