i've accumulated quite a lot of them and don't know what to do with them, apart from throwing it away or burning it.

  1. The best thing to do with old socks is to use them for dust rags and then after that stuffing in the bottom of flower pots so that they drain properly.  Do remember to wash them before using them in the flower pots.  They disintegrate and help the growth of the flowers.

  2. I would welcome the bandages to send to a non profit in West Africa. They would go to free clinics and hospitals. If you would like me to do this perhaps they could be taken to fairview mass as our daughter works there or pickup could be arranged   thanks  Carolyn

  3. Check out www.freecycle.org . People post what they are getting rid of. The main rule is that it has to be FREE

the boards are by area, the master list is at the www.freecycle.org . its alot of fun.

  4. Donate the bandages to an Egyptian Mummification science company.  Sell the socks in a paper bag on e-bay.  OR mummify your old socks and write a bible story about them.(with an indian ink pen of course...)

  5. I don't have any ready ideas for elastic bandages, but I do for socks  If you or someone you know is a gardener, socks make great seed pot liners. (Unless they're heavy on the synthetic composition!)  Line small pots -- 3 to 5 inch square -- with an old sock; fill with your soil medium and plant your seeds.  When plants are ready to be transplanted to a bed or where you want them, the sock will make removal from the small pot easy and make the transplant easier.  Eventually the sock will decompose and not present ant problem in the process of plant growth.

  6. If the socks are OK give them a good cleaning and make puppets kid love them.

  7. You could sew the socks together and use them as a quilt stuffing.

  8. You could make tea for the homeless!

  9. knot the socks and make them into a dog or cat toy!

  10. Make the socks into rags!

This stuff won't magically go away . . just find a creative way to use it :)
