Question:

Best way to reduce static in your amp?

I have a lot of static in my cheap 10w amp. It's not bugging me enough to make me buy a new one, and I think it actually might have something to do with the cable. When I move around the cable it becomes less static. Any suggestions?

  1. Amp cords are very cheap! If when you wiggle it and it clear then you already know that you need a new cord. LOL!

  2. Make sure all grounds are clean and making good contact to the chassis.

  3. Sounds like you either have a dodgey cable, or your jack is loose. Pull apart you cable and see if there is any corrosion around the solders and that the connection is good.

Maybe try tightening up your jack with a shifting spanner.

Wet weather can have an effect too.

  4. ok i had the same exact probably, finally my amp just ,died, i bought a new one and used the same cable and it worked perfectly.(u might hav 2 spend a few more dollars though on the amp;)

  5. well, you need a good cable, your guitar jack could be bad, you could get a noise gate pedal or something like that. Your guitar electronics could also be bad

  6. lol i thought you said "best way to reduce static
