Best way to remove excessive dog p**p from yard?

We just bought a house and the backyard is covered in old p**p. The grass is grown over too. I am thinking the best thing to do is grind up the whole yard and resod. Any other ideas?

  1. Your plan sounds best to me. I would, however, think about re-seeding rather than sod, sod is expensive and the seed will sprout in 7-10 days.

  2. Jenny this may be the most sencible thing to do in the circumstances. Now the grass is grown over, any effort you make to clean it up, would only end in infuriation, and frustration, and the yard would then be in a worse state than before. Get the tiller in, and re-seed or re-sod. Although your pocket will be lighter, you will be much happier with the end result.

  3. sounds a little drastic and expensive to resod the whole yard.  p**p will eventually biodegrade into the soil as there is no longer a dog producing more each day.  I would go with just mowing really low with a mulcher blade and let nature do the rest.

  4. If you are willing to do that but with the temp right now....not the best time to sod.  You could hire a service to pick it up.  There are services that pick up doggy do.

  5. Mow the yard, the lawn mower will mulch up the p**p and it will be an excellent fertilizer for the grass, and the above poster is right...now is the wrong time of year to resod

  6. I suggest that you use a weed whacker to get the old grass off the yard.  Don't go too low as you do not want to stir up all that old p**p.  Rake the grass off the yard then pick up as much of the old p**p with a p**p scooper.  Then plow it under and re-sod.

  7. I would  mow it with a mulching mower if it's old dried up p**p. It will decompose.
