  1. SAFETY GLASSES  HAMMER AND A SCRAPER

  2. You are on the right track, a small hammer drill with a wide flat thin blade will work just fine, think 1 inch,  electric just fine an air chisel will work too. Rent, no need to buy. CAUTION  porcelain tile is sharp as a razor an can break in shards,  THEREFORE eye protection and good gloves. Simply let blade work under tile and it will pop off. 30 years contractor, Hope this helps you... If you need more info you can ask via e-mail. JERRY

  3. you can use a hmmer and just hit the tile until it breaks up then scrape off any remaining thinset

  4. For floors there is a large, longhandled chisel that works pretty good. You need something heavy that will remove the grout and thinset under the tile. An air hammer with a wide chisel might work pretty good too.

  5. Well this depends, if this is in a kitchen or bathroom the walls/floor may be rotted anyway. if so, just beat the tile out with a hammer and mabye a chisel and re- gyproc the room and put some thin plywood on the floor. If you want to save the walls/floor you will have a big job of chipping away ahead of you.

  6. if you are talking about flooring you can rent a( LITTLE EDDIE) from home depot it takes tile off of concrete floors easily. or hammer and chisel

  7. No easy way to tackle this task to start off. If it's adhered directly to concrete I feel sorry for you. Best way there is a heavy sledge and a flat garden spade. Start banging. Also have on hand a putty knife and a small hand sledge for edge work. Air hammers and scrapers might make thing easier on the muscles, but will take longer here. If it's adhered to cement board, it's best to use a hand sledge and a pry-bar and take up the cement board and tile all in one shot. If you try to save the board, you'll just bang holes in it and have to try to repair it and smooth it off to make it even and level. Waste of time, just bring it all up as one and lay down new board.
