Best way to remove smell..

Whats the best way to remove the "new wood" odor from a dresser? Bought a new dresser for our baby coming in a month and cant get rid of that smell, whats the fastest and easiest way to get rid of it? Really need to do it soon so that her clothes wont smell like that.

  1. If you have a sunny, no rain in the forecast day (or you're going to be home), remove the drawers and put everything out in the sun for a while.  To keep the drawers "fresh", you can use the refrigerator boxes of baking soda (I'm not sure that it would remove the initial odor, but it's worth a shot.)  Good Luck and Congrats on the new baby!


  2. Remove the drawers and let it sit open like that for a week or so. Go to a health food store and buy a bottle of lavender essential oil(or some other smell you prefer), place a drop on a scrap piece of fabric and place one in each drawer when you put them back in. Then it not only doesn;t have the smell you don't like but it will smell like lavender. If you choose another scent research it first as some are not safe for use around children.
