Question:

Best way to seal a hole above ground in the foundation?

While doing some cleaning I found that the A/C tubing comes through the base of the foundation through a hole big enough to let daylight in... and bugs. I keep finding roaches and recluse spiders around it.

What's the best way to seal this hole? Will spray foam do it, or do I need to bundle the cords and close it up with cement?

  1. there are several products that can do the job.

Expanding foam is a good choice because you don't have to fool with the cables.

ITF caulk is another choice (fire proof caulk) if your local building codes require it.

You can always use stucco patch or even asphalt patch but is a bit more messy and you have to buy large bags usually.

  2. Use the foam or a caulking. You do not want a ridgid material against the tubing since settling or expansion and contraction could damage them.
