  1. smplest way is to connect it all together and set zone alarm as firewwall ,put AVG as antivirus, then in security point of view u r all set!!!!

enable dhcp service so that all will get dynamic ip address, there is not much to think about it or make worry, just go ahead, thanks!!!

  2. Well, we need to know exactly what your model number is for your router.  Then for connecting the computers to the wireless, we need to know if you are using the vendor's supplied wireless setup software or the Windows XP or Vista's wireless setup software.

You will definitely want wireless for your iphones, but for your 2 tivos and xbox, you might want to consider powerline instead:

  3. WEP key. Don't really need anything more. If somebody is that determined to get in, then they will. As long as you have a pass on it then you're ok. If you don't, you may be in breech of the law.

  4. you need to log into the router and set up a secured connection. go onto the linksys web site for more info, but here is where to start:

Type in 192.168.1.1 to get into your Linksys Routers Management page. By default the username is usually blank and password is admin. There should be an option there for Wireless. You can also call their 800 number and have them walk you through it.

  5. if using wireless, set the higher encryption that your router provides.

  6. Set a mac address for each item and put a password for the internet connection and also set the SSID not show on broadcast.  Since you set a mac address for each item that you're connecting.  Therefore, others unable to see your SSID on the broadcast.  If you don't know how to do that, recommend you to read the manual of the router that you had, because each router contains different method to do so.

    Good Luck!!!

  7. run the setup disc that came with the router and it should prompt u for to put in a user id and password

  8. um put a password on it?

  9. WEP 128-bit password protection, and make the password so complicated no one could ever guess it, and change it on a regular basis.

  10. Wires.
