Question:

Best way to sell a saddle?

I have a western saddle I want to sell as I recently found out it is too wide for my horse (by hardly anything, but he was getting a little sore in his withers) I ride mostly english so my western saddle is hardly ever used. I bought it when I bought my horse because I wanted to finish his training in the same thing he had started his training in. So I have had it since October. It looks new and I payed 800 for it. It isn't a show saddle - just an all purpose. I have call places to ask about consignments but I don't know if I will get the best price there (I need an English saddle because I am borrowing at the moment..So the more the better!) Any other ideas for how to sell it?

  1. I would *definitely* use craigslist, because it's for the area where you live. That way people in YOUR locality can check it out and maybe try it on their horse to be sure of a good fit.

That's so important!!! (As you know! :)

  2. Yeah id go ebay, as the people on ebay and in the saddle section are generally there cause they want to buy one! If u go with a newspaper ad in your area that could work to. You can advertise in the classies, and people may not know that they need or are even thnking about buying a saddle until they read an ad. Also print media also works because it can be reffered to later. I.e. if you scan quickly at lunch, it will still be on the paper when you get home that afternoon! Good luck!

  3. One some websites that sell horses they have a section that you can sell tack, trailers, fencing etc.. too.

  4. Ebay, local tack sotre, also online you can post tack for sale like http://www.horsetopia.com/ and www.dreamhorse.com.

  5. Craigslist, consignment tack store, Ebay.

  6. ebay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im telling you its good!

  7. well you can always try ebay! i tried selling an elliptical on there but it didn't work, so i put up a flier on the bulletin board in the supermarket. it sold the next day! but i have had luck selling on eBay before!

  8. on an adult website

  9. I sold my saddle on ebay.  It has the most exposure.  I sold my saddle within three days of posting.  Make sure you charge appropriate shipping though.  It can get expensive.  Also, make it clear you do not except returns, unless you want to accept them.  It is  a pain in the but to have to refund money if you have spent it already.

  10. we are currently selling our show saddle thru a saddle store, they take care of everything and give us the money once it's sold *(the bridle went already).

that's the easiest way, you dont have to do any work, yeah you give a portion of the money to the seller as a fee, but you pick the price they sell it at.
