I just had a fence put up, about 125 ft total. its spruce, 6 ft high, privacy fence. Im thinking of going with a semi transparent stain to cover up some of the blemishes of the spruce. Would the best/most effecient way be roller, brush, or cloth? thanks

  1. Rent a HVLP electric paint sprayer. The job will go so fast and it would be so effortless.

  2. As someone stated, the easiest way is to rent a sprayer and apply it that way. However, you'll have to fool around with spray techniques and do it on a calm day. Also, be mindful of the overspray getting everywhere. It's fastest, but not the most efficient. Even an hvlp system wastes a lot of material as compared to roller/brush.

125 feet is a lot of fence.

Cheaper and more efficient is a roller and paint brush. But it will take a long time. But time is cheap, and if you have it, go this route.

  3. roll it on and then go back and touch up the bare spots with a brush
