I'm looking for some techniques on memorization or best way to study something and remeber it. I find that when I study for tests and stuff, for hours, the day of the test, I usually forget stuff.

I'm looking for free ways. Not some buy a DVD and I'll show you how kinda thing...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I HAVE FOUND THAT USING AS MANY SENSES AS POSSIBLE WHILE STUDYING IS THE BEST METHOD AT LEAST FOR ME. I READ THE STUDY MATERIAL ALOUD WHILE WRITING IT DOWN.

  2. As bizarre as it sounds, first thing in the morning when you first get out of bed after a good nights sleep. Trust me, you may feel like your just coming to, but that's the best time to connect differrent pieces of information together. I got through a compressed course in comms and air defense engineering in the RAF using this method. Although what I had to do was understand the Complexities of certain equipment.  Memorizing however is a bit different to understanding. Would better understanding of the subject help you remember the individual facts. If it not I wish you the best of luck, I hope you do well anyway.

  3. I was usually gifted by only having to read/study something only once, and I'd remember it.  But one surefire trick I learned was to use word association or make a funny story about something.  For example:   If I asked you to memorize the number 145, a basketball, grapes, and Florida...my technique would be to make up a story like, "one day I was playing BASKETBALL in FLORIDA, I got so hungry I had to stop and eat 145 GRAPES.  (sounds stupid, but it got me a 3.5 or better GPA most of highschool.  Same with numbers, vocabulary words, lists, etc...)

  4. go over it multiple times

  5. flash cards, rereading, or even make a game out of it or something.

  6. I think that study methods/memorization are different for everybody, depending on how your mind works.  I like to memorize things by reading them, and them reciting them over in my head without looking.  I also like to have a mental picture of the thing.  I don't know what will work for you, but I suggest trying every way that people will come up with on the page that sound reasonable to you, and then pick one that works best for you.

  7. flash cards

  8. I usually just make up a study guide of what I'll need to know and then read over it a million times until it sinks into my head.

  9. What i found that really helps is to talk to your friends about the subject, like teaching them what you learned or even asking them what they know about it.
