Best way to transfer my itunes library from my pc to my laptop?

i have about 4000 songs and some music videos and ive heard you can use certain programs to take songs from an ipod and put them onto a computer. anyone know any details or an easier way to do it?

the best program ive used is idump. it transfers music and video. since u have over 4000 it will take a long time so best to do it overnight or somthing.
