  1. I did it cold turkey with my son, but he is a very easy child.  He did whine a little bit for a couple of days, but there was really no problem.  Same thing with the pacifier.  He started biting through them and ruining them, so I was worried about him choking.  We told him they were broken, so we had to throw them away.  No more binky!

  2. I just took my sons away and didn't give him an ultimatum they wont have any choice but to drink from the sippy cup be prepared for tantrums.

  3. My daughter turned one yesterday, and tonight was the 3rd night completely bottle free.  However, she's been drinking out of a sippy since 5 months.  Early introduction is key, that way when its time baby is already familiar with the cup and knows how to use it.  You need to give him/her the sippy with some water in it and let him/her have it throughout the day.  They will figure out how to use it in no time, then gradually swap out bottles for sippies (with regular milk now too, Im assuming)  Give him/her water in a sippy throughout the day, and fill the sippy with milk for breakfast/lunch/dinner.  I got rid of the mid day bottle first and only offered sippy, then breakfast was next to go, and lastly the night time bottle.  Overall it went pretty smoothly with no problems.  Introduce it asap then gradually replace until bottles are gone.  Good luck!

  4. Slowly ween him/her.  It's the only way.  The young one will eventually get it.  Get a well sealed sippy cup.

  5. just take away he bottle plain and simple it is better to go for a clean break but be prepared for tantrums but it worked for my boys for their botles and dummies

  6. I started from the bottle to a nubbi cup with a sport bottle top and gradually moved to the other rubber top (idk what its called) and then to the little harder plastic top and so on until they drank out of any cup.

  7. i tried cold turkey and then my daughter refused to eat solids for about a week and wanted nothing but the bottle. i waited a little bit and then i tried a transition sippy cup it has a nipple on it like a bottle but it is shaped like the nozzle on a cup. i started by replacing one meal during the day with the sippy i did this week by week until she got used to just the bottle when she went to bed. then i would only put juice in the sippy no milk so she wouldnt get confused. that worked really good. and after she got used to the juice in the sippy i gave it to her with milk in it one night and viola! she took to it fine. try not to force them into it go slow and make small changes and let them get used to it first or else they will get frustrated and confused. after i got her completely on the transition sippy and she was used to the shape of it i just gave her the one that has the hard nozzle and she took to it like the transition one. you can get a cheap transition sippy for around 2.50 at walmart or your local grocery store(i'm not sure where you live). i think the hardest part to get them off the bottle is the big difference in the size or the spout that they are sucking on. just go slow and use your instincts and you'll do fine. let me know if i helped i just finally got mine on a sippy all the way a week ago so i'm fresh out of that stage!

  8. Several methods you can try:

    1.  Cold Turkey

    2.  Water down the milk in the bottle, and keep it full strength in the sippy cup.

    3.  Try many kinds of sippy cups - including ones with a straw.  A lot of new babies like the straw because the other cups take too much suction to get anything out.

  9. throw all the bottles away and replace them with sippy cups. No matter what don't purchace any more bottles !!!!

  10. Easy-Take the  bottle away. The child may protest at first, but guess what? They have to eat/drink! They will take it if you just stick with it. We started giving our two kids sippy cups when they were around 6 months old, not exclusively, but often enough. When they turned one, we took all of their bottles and put them away, and gave them only a sippy cup. The transition was easy, they didnt even notice.

    Good luck!

  11. Transition sippy cups. I don't know what bottle your child is using but a lot of bottle companies have transition sippy cups. Start introducing the cups at meal times.
